For over two years now since February 2017, Tamil families of the disappeared have been protesting roadside across the North-East.

The Kilinochchi protest site has been a central hub of activity through this period, and most of the families here had their loved ones disappeared during the last phase of the war, many after having surrendered to the Sri Lankan armed forces.

In this piece, three Tamil women who have been active in organizing and participating in the Kilinochchi roadside protests who each have a disappeared loved one, reflect on the 10 years since the atrocities of Mullivaaikkaal which they all endured, memorialization, militarisation and the importance of protests.
